As my previous post suggests, I believe there is a significant link between the driving forces of both web 2.0 and the financial and capital markets that seek to utilize the collective intelligence of the masses. The wikipedia authors of the Social network page say that:
Social network theory produces an alternate view, where the attributes of individuals are less important than their relationships and ties with other actors within the network. This approach has turned out to be useful for explaining many real-world phenomena, but leaves less room for individual agency, the ability for individuals to influence their success, because so much of it rests within the structure of their network.
I thought to myself: how can this link be reinforced even more? Perhaps by bringing investors together on the Internet to create what I would call "Investor networking". I found a web site that attempts this idea: StockTickr.com. However, I think that with some additional features, an increased focus on usability, and a better design; an investor networking site can bring together investors to create an intelligent networking application that can provide average investors with shared knowledge and opinions on publicly traded corporations; that can perhaps have a positive impact on the efficiency of the market in terms of disseminating useful information.

Hi Brian
A bit late in the day.. but this is an idea that struck me too when I began investing last year.. and realized I was always ‘yearning’ (:-)) for info on the best stocks etc..
So I put together this need and my programing skills to create http://www.StreetTalk.in... so far just for Indians but I am seeing a good response in this first week of launch.. and will continue to add features.
Any feedback is welcome.. and yea nice blog! I have lot of ajax on my site.. especially on the stocktalk page.. in fact my idea was to have a website that looks like a TV business channel!!
